June 23, Colombo: Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Qi Zhenhong met with Minister of Public Seurity Tiran Alles yesterday (22).
The meeting took place at the Ministry of Public Security in Suhurupaya, Battaramulla.
The Ambassador Qi Zhenhong and the Minister exchanged views on China's all-round assistance for the island, cooperation in law enforcement between China and Sri Lanka and other issues of mutual interests.
The discussion focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and China, the economic crisis, and the political situation in Sri Lanka, and the steps need to be taken to overcome the crisis.
The Minister thanked China for its support to Sri Lanka at all times and expressed confidence that China would continue to support Sri Lanka.
The Ambassador said that his government would extend all possible assistance to Sri Lanka in overcoming this crisis.
He also said that the Chinese Government would extend its fullest support to the Ministry of Public Security and congratulated the Minister Alles on his appointment as the new Minister of Public Security.
