Sun, Jun 19, 2022, 09:33 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

June 19, Colombo: The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) says the manner in which the electricity tariff will be increased will be decided within three days.

Speaking at a media briefing held today, PUCSL Chairman Janaka Ratnayake said that the electricity tariff would be increased in a manner that would not be unfair to low income earners who use between 30 and 60 units of electricity.

Meanwhile, the Public Utilities Commission said there will be no power cuts from 7 am to 12 noon from tomorrow.

The Chairman said the Commission approved a request from the Ministry of Education to avoid power cuts to accommodate the online education of students as the schools island wide are closed due to fuel crisis.

Accordingly, the Public Utilities Commission further stated that the power cuts from tomorrow will be limited to two hours and 30 minutes between 12 noon to 10.30 pm
