July 02, Colombo: Officers of Sri Lanka Customs at Bandaranaike International Airport at Katunayake Saturday morning have seized a stock of over 2 kilograms of gold worth nearly 50 million rupees from a passenger.
The Sri Lankan passenger has arrived in Sri Lanka on a flight from Dubai.
Customs Director Mr. Sudath Silva said the seized stock contained 16 gold biscuits and 4 pieces of melted gold and the total weight of the stock was 2098 grams.
The Customs spokesperson further said the gold stock was confiscated and the suspect was fined 50,000 rupees.
