Jan 20, Colombo: South Korea’s National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-seug arrived in Sri Lanka Wednesday night (19) on a four-day official visit.

The South Korean Speaker is visiting Sri Lanka at the invitation of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.

Ministers Namal Rajapaksa and Prasanna Ranatunga as well as State Minister DV Chanaka were present at the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport to receive the South Korean Speaker.

During his visit, the South Korean Speaker is expected to meet with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa as well as Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The two sides are expected to discuss potential agreements on securing Sri Lanka’s rare minerals, preventing double taxation, aviation and increasing South Korean businesses’ participation in Sri Lanka’s development projects, his office said.

It is hoped that his visit will further strengthen the long-standing friendship between South Korea and Sri Lanka and steer bilateral relations in a new direction.
