* Coronavirus update: 829 new COVID-19 cases identified Wednesday, total rises to 598,536

Jan 19, Colombo: According to Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, 829 new COVID-19 cases were reported so far on Wednesday.

According to the Epidemiology Unit report at 7:30 pm Wednesday, a total of 598,536 COVID-19 cases have been reported since the beginning of the pandemic.

While 14,656 infected patients are currently under medical care at hospitals and homes, 568,637 patients have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

Sri Lanka Wednesday reported 12 deaths raising the total to 15,243.

According to the Epidemiology Unit report, so far total of 16,250,671 people have received a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 13,875,938 have received the second dose. In addition, 4,801,718 have received the third booster dose.
