* The debate on the government’s policy statement begins today

Jan 19, Colombo: The two day debate on the Government Policy Statement presented by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in Parliament yesterday begins today.

At a meeting of the Committee on Parliamentary Affairs held on Jan 11, it was decided to hold an Adjournment Debate on the President’s speech on Wednesday, January 19th and on Thursday January 20th. The adjournment motion will be moved by the ruling party.

Accordingly, the debate is scheduled to commence after the sitting of Parliament at 1.00 pm today.

The Second Session of the 9th Parliament was inaugurated by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday and the President presented the Government Policy Statement.
