Tue, Jan 18, 2022, 08:02 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Jan 18, Colombo: Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) today warned the hotels and restaurants that follow a “Foreigners Only” policy that they would face license cancellation if they discriminate the local tourists.

In a statement on Tuesday (18) SLTDA said it received complaints regarding discriminatory practices followed by some tourist establishments against Sri Lankan citizens, and have taken action in this regard.

The Authority pointing out that the Constitution affords the equal right to all citizens, said if there is a formal complaint and found to have been discriminatory, they will not hesitate to suspend or cancel license.

Further action including informing travelers and notifying Online Travel agencies to abstain from taking bookings will be taken against such establishments, the Authority warned.

At the same time, SLTDA also advised the domestic travelers not to abuse tourist properties and adhere to the hotels requirements and cautioned that SLTDA will take necessary action against disruptive guests.
