Jan 17, Colombo: Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on Monday offered his deepest condolences on the sudden death of veteran musician Neela Wickramasinghe, who passed away on Monday at age 71 in Milan, Italy.

“I extend my deepest condolences on the sudden demise of veteran singer Neela Wickramasinghe, who has contributed many popular songs to the Sri Lankan music industry, enriched by her beautiful voice,” President Rajapaksa said in his condolence message.

“As a film playback singer, a school music teacher and as the newly appointed Consulate General of Sri Lanka to Italy, she has left a lasting and memorable impression in the community and will undoubtedly be missed by the Sri Lankan music industry and her admirers."
