* Police arrest eight youths with drugs on pilgrimage to Sri Pada

Jan 15, Colombo: Sri Lanka Police during a special operation conducted yesterday (14) have arrested 08 youths, who were engaged in a pilgrimage to the sacred Sri Pada mountain with drugs in their possession.

During the emergency raid conducted by the Hatton Police Anti Vice squad with the assistance of the Police Canine Stoud at the Police Check Point in Diyagala on Hatton Colombo main road, the police found an assortment of drugs in the possession of the eight youths.

The suspects are aged between 25 and 35 years.

They will be produced before the Hatton District and Magistrate's Courts.

Special police teams have been deployed day and night on the route to Sri Pada to arrest pilgrims who bring drugs and liquor.
