* Adjournment debate on President’s policy statement on Jan 19 and 20

Jan 12, Colombo: The President’s policy statement is due to be presented when the 2nd session of the 9th Parliament commences on Tuesday (Jan 18).

The Leader of the House, Minister of Education Dinesh Gunawardena said a decision was taken at a meeting of the Committee on Parliamentary Affairs held Tuesday (11) to hold an Adjournment Debate on the President’s speech on Wednesday, January 19th and on Thursday January 20th.

The adjournment motion will be moved by the ruling party.

The Leader of the House said that 4 Bills are also due to be presented to Parliament on 20 January 2022. These include Amendment to the Code of Criminal Procedure Act No. 15 of 1979, Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Bill, Amendments to the Judicial Organizations Act No. 02 of 1978 and Amendments to the Code of Civil Procedure.

The Motion of Condolence on the late Minister Mangala Samaraweera is due to be moved on Friday, 21 January 2022.
