Apr 03, Colombo: Social media activist Thisara Anuruddha Bandara who was arrested under Section 120 of the Penal Code was released on bail after being produced in the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.

Thisara Anuruddha Bandara was arrested by a team of officers from the Colombo North Crimes Division Friday night in Ethgala, Gampola.

After being arrested, Thisara Anuruddha was detained at the Criminal Investigation Division of the Modara Police until he was produced before the Hulftsdorp Magistrate’s Court Saturday night.

It has been reported that about 50 lawyers were at the court to defend the youth, who was reportedly arrested for creating a social media page against the President.

The police media said the activist was arrested for publishing posts on social media causing unrest among the public.
