* Coronavirus update: 1,078 new COVID-19 cases identified Sunday, total rises to 513,609

Sept 26, Colombo: According to Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, 1,078 new COVID-19 cases were reported so far on Sunday.

According to the Epidemiology Unit report at 10 pm Sunday, a total of 513,609 COVID-19 cases have been reported since the inception of the pandemic. While 46,394 infected patients are currently under medical care at hospitals and homes, 454,532 patients have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

Sri Lanka Sunday reported 71 deaths within last 24 hours raising the total to 12,680.

According to the Epidemiology Unit report, so far total of 14,367,807 people have received a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 11,593,990 have received the second dose.
