* Another 4 million doses of Sinopharm vaccine arrive in the island
Sat, Sep 18, 2021, 09:57 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Sept 18, Colombo: Another 4 million doses of Sinopharm vaccine purchased from China were brought to Bandaranaike International Airport this morning from Beijing by a special cargo plane of SriLankan Airlines, airport sources said.

This is the second time that 4 million doses of China-manufactured Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine have been brought to Sri Lanka. An earlier consignment of 4 million doses of vaccine was brought to the island on September 05.

The stock of vaccines weighed 16,214 kilograms and was packed in 41 boxes. As there are five doses of the vaccine in one container, it had been possible to transport this consignment of 4 million doses in 800,000 containers in a single flight.

Steps had been taken to store the vaccine stock in the refrigerators of the air cargo section.
