Fri, Sep 17, 2021, 09:51 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Sept 17, Colombo: The teachers’ and principals’ union representatives confirmed yesterday (16) that they are ready to resolve the teacher-principal issues through negotiations.

General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers’ Union Joseph Stalin said the Secretary of Education had stated that alternative action would be taken if the principals did not submit applications.

“We would like to ask what this alternative course of action is. Threatening? Now it’s time to discuss the issue of teachers and principals,” he said.

President of the Ceylon Teachers’ Union Priyantha Fernando stated that in order to reach a positive solution, a discussion is needed with a Minister who can give an answer.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Podujana Educational Services Union says it believes Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa will provide a strong solution to the teacher-principal salary issue.
