Sept 15, Colombo: Sri Lanka Police say 646 people were arrested for violating quarantine laws in the past 24 hours, ending at 6.00 am Wednesday (15). The Police have also seized 92 vehicles.
So far 72,113 people have been arrested for violating the quarantine law following the imposition of quarantine curfew regulations on October 30 last year due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
Meanwhile, 2,052 persons and 596 vehicles were inspected at 13 roadblocks set up at the entry points to the Western Province yesterday (14).
A statement issued by the Police Media Unit said 198 vehicles attempting to cross the border into Western Province without a valid permit were retuned.
