Sun, Sep 12, 2021, 11:27 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Sept 12, Colombo: The government is taking steps to open all Sathosa (CWE) outlets and provide essential commodities to the people in the aftermath of the Covid-19 epidemic, said Sathasivam Viyalendran, State Minister of Backward Rural Areas Development and Promotion of Domestic Animal Husbandry & Minor Economic Crop Cultivation.

He said this after inspecting the newly opened Sathosa outlet in Batticaloa. The government will intervene for the benefit of the people and provide the people with essential commodities without any shortage, the State Minister said.

He also said that he had submitted a series of proposals to Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardena in this regard.

He further said that some traders are trying to embarrass the government and the people by hiding essential food items and the government is facing such activities very strongly.

Instructing the staff of the CWE outlet in Batticaloa to store and maintain the necessary items for the public to obtain without any inconvenience, the State Minister told them to make him aware of any problems that he would do his best to resolve them.
