* Coronavirus update: 2,642 new COVID-19 cases identified Sunday, total rises to 485,922

Sept 12, Colombo: According to Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, 2,642 new COVID-19 cases were reported so far on Sunday. Among the new infections confirmed today 2,641 are from the New Year cluster and one is a foreign arrival currently in quarantine.

According to the Epidemiology Unit report at 9:15 pm Sunday, a total of 485,922 COVID-19 cases have been reported 61,814 infected patients under medical care at hospitals and homes, while 412,812 patients have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

Sri Lanka Sunday reported 144 deaths within last 24 hours raising the total to 11,296.

According to the Epidemiology Unit report, so far total of 13,458,621 people have received a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 10,544,228 have received the second dose.
