Oct 26, Colombo: Former Governor of the Western Province Azath Salley who was arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act has been remanded till the November 09 by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.

The case was called before Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika Sri Ragala this morning (October 26).

Salley was served indictments filed by the Attorney General yesterday when he was produced before the Colombo High Court.

Azath Sally was arrested by the CID on suspicion of making racially charged statements at a media briefing in Colombo in March.

Azath Sally has been charged by the Attorney General with two counts of violating the Prevention of Terrorism Act and the United Nations Convention on Civil and Political Rights by inciting religious strife at a press conference in Colombo on March 9.
