* T20 World Cup: Asalanka - Bhanuka seal victory against Bangladesh

Oct 24, Colombo: Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by five wickets in the 15th match of the Twenty20 World Cup Cricket Tournament today (24th) at the Sharjah Cricket Ground in Sharjah.

Chasing a target of 172, Sri Lanka slipped to 79-4 before Charith Asalanka’s unbeaten 80 and Bhanuka Rajapakse’s aggressive 53 from 31 balls put them on top.

Bangladesh had earlier posted 171-4 from their 20 overs

Charith Asalanka scored an unbeaten 80 off 49 balls with five sixes and five fours to take Sri Lanka to victory. This was Asalanka’s best T20I innings as well as his maiden half century.

Asalanka put on 69 from 45 balls for the second wicket with Pathum Nissinka’s 24 and added 86 off 52 balls for the fifth wicket with Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s 53. Bhanuka, who faced 31 balls, hit three sixes and three fours in his second T20I half-century. Mahesh Theekshana, who was sidelined with a hamstring injury during the Netherlands match, was rested for the match and replaced by fast bowler Binura Fernando. Accordingly, the Sri Lankan team played with five fast bowlers and one spinner.
