* The first consignment of 3.1 million liters of nitrogen liquid fertilizer to arrive in Sri Lanka tonight

Oct 19, Colombo: The first consignment of 3.1 million liters of eco-friendly nano nitrogen liquid fertilizer to be brought for the Maha season this year will be brought to Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport from India tonight (19) by SriLankan Airlines flight UL 1156.

It is planned to bring 500,000 liters of nano nitrogen liquid fertilizer to Sri Lanka this week alone, said the Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture, Prof. Udith Jayasinghe.

The stock of liquid fertilizer brought from India tonight (19) will be distributed to farmers through Agrarian Development Centers in Ampara, Batticaloa, Trincomalee and other districts where paddy cultivation has already commenced, the Secretary said.

This program is being implemented in accordance with a policy decision taken by the Government to use organic fertilizer for paddy cultivation and all other crops this Maha season under the President's program for eco-friendly agriculture.

The Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture emphasizes that this special fertilizer which is being brought to Sri Lanka from India today (19) has been manufactured using the most advanced nanotechnology in the world and this is an environmentally friendly fertilizer that has shown great success.

Prof. Udith Jayasinghe, Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture, pointed out that this fertilizer manufactured by IFFCO in India is recognized as one of the highest quality products in the world. He also expressed his gratitude to the office and all parties involved.
