* Imports of approved pesticides and herbicides allowed
Tue, Oct 19, 2021, 11:09 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Oct 19, Colombo: Approved pesticides and herbicides will be allowed to be imported through local companies in the quantities required for farmers, said the Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture, Prof. Uditha K. Jayasinghe.

He also stated that steps will be taken to provide quality fertilizer to farmers.

Meanwhile, a stock of nano liquid nitrogen fertilizer was brought by air yesterday and it is a special fertilizer, he said.

"One can call it organic fertilizer and another can call it chemical fertilizer," he said.

Mr. Jayasinghe said that a 500 ml bottle of nano nitrogen would suffice instead of a 50 kg bag of urea, adding that only 2.5 liters per hectare is required.
