* UDA expedites construction of two more housing projects to be completed by June 2022

Oct 14, Colombo: The Ministry of Urban Development and Housing states that the Urban Development Authority (UDA) has expedited the construction of two more housing projects targeting homeless middle class families on the instructions of the Minister of Urban Development and Housing, Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Accordingly, construction work on the Pannipitiya, Veera Mawatha Viyathpura and Kottawa Green Arcade Apartment projects will be expedited. The two housing project are scheduled to be completed by June 30 next year (2022).

These projects are being implemented under several housing schemes for the middle class families who do not own homes.

The Viyathpura housing scheme consists of a ground floor and 09 floors and is expected to be completed by June 30, 2022. It is also planned to complete the work of 04 units by March 31, 2022.

This unit consists of 500 A, B, C type houses. The 750, 950 and 1050 sq ft houses are priced from Rs. 10.5 million to Rs. 14.7 million respectively.

Construction of the Green Arcade Apartment at Kulasewanawatta, Hokandara Road, Kottawa, which is scheduled to be completed in June 2022, is 58.28% complete by September 30, 2021, according to the Urban Development Authority.

This apartment complex consisting of ground floor, main floor and 09 floors consists of 300 new houses. The car park can accommodate up to 300 residential vehicles. There is also a car park for 30 guests.
