* First consignment of organic fertilizer required for the Maha season unloaded at the Port of Colombo

Oct 13, Colombo: A consignment of 30,000 MT of Potassium Chloride Organic Fertilizer required for the Maha season was unloaded at the Port of Colombo today (13), Agriculture Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage said.

This consignment of fertilizer was brought from Lithuania by the bulk carrier MV Vigorous.

Arrangements will be made to send the stock of fertilizer tonight (13) to Agrarian Development Centers in the most paddy cultivating districts of Ampara, Batticaloa, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Kurunegala, Puttalam, Trincomalee and Hambantota.

The Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage had earlier stated that the organic fertilizer required for the forthcoming Maha season will be provided by the 15th of this month and the fertilizer will be received before that.
