Nov 25, Colombo: The National Building Research Organization has issued landslide warnings for seven districts with the prevailing rain.

Landslide warnings have been issued for Colombo, Kalutara, Kandy, Kurunegala, Matale, Nuwara Eliya and Ratnapura districts.

Meanwhile, a flood warning has been issued for residents in the low lying areas of Deduru Oya as the water level of the Deduru Oya has been observed rising to ‘minor flood level'.

Irrigation Department warned that there is a possibility of occurring a considerable flood situation in low-lying areas of Deduru Oya valley situated in Wariyapola, Nikaweratiya, Mahawa, Kobeigane, Bingiriya, Pallama, Chilaw, Arachchikattuwa and Rasnayakapura D/S Divisions.

Residents of the area and drivers of vehicles passing through the area are requested to be vigilant of the floods.

The water level of the Malwathu Oya (Tantirimale) is currently rising to 'Alert Level' due to the prevailing rainfall, the Disaster Management Center cautioned.

Accordingly, the people living in low-level areas of these rivers have been advised to move to safer locations due to the threat of floods.
