Nov 22, Colombo: Another consignment of 1.5 million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine purchased by the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC) arrived in Sri Lanka early Monday.
The consignment, which weighed 5,055 kilograms, was first airlifted from Amsterdam in the Netherlands to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
The vaccine stock was then flown from Dubai to the Bandaranike International Airport on an Emirates EK-648 cargo plane which arrived at 12.45 this morning (22).
After unloading, the vaccine consignment, was placed in the refrigerator at the Katunayake Airport Cargo Village and taken to the Central Warehousing Complex in Colombo by refrigerated trucks of the Sri Lanka Pharmaceuticals Corporation.
This vaccine stock will be administered as booster doses in the vaccination program in the country.
