Tue, Dec 7, 2021, 11:22 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Dec 07, Colombo: The Minister of Trade Bandula Gunawardena says that steps will be taken to provide food items including rice to the people through the Sathosa at concessionary prices during the festive season.

Addressing a media briefing held yesterday (06) the Minister said that people in places where there is no Sathosa outlet can set up a system to deliver goods to their homes through the 1998 telephone number.

“Nadu rice and raw rice are sold for less than Rs. 100 through the Sathosa branch network. During the festive season thorough the intervention of the government, essential items can be provided to the consumer at reasonable prices. In places where there is no CWE outlet, you can set up a system to get the goods delivered to your home by calling the 1998 hotline,” the Minister said.

"We also hope to increase the volume, so we're looking to increase the supply in the future and If possible, work to increase the amount to one customer," he added.
