* Customs officials at airport seize Rs. 30 million worth ‘ice’ from a Sri Lankan passenger

Dec 06, Colombo: Sri Lanka Customs Officers at the Arrivals Terminal of the Bandaranaike International Airport have seized a stock of crystal methamphetamine also known as ‘ice’ while inspecting a Sri Lankan passenger arrived on board SriLankan Airlines flight UL 126 from Chennai, India today.

The Customs officers found two packages of ‘ice’ hidden in boxes containing milk powder when the inspected the passenger’s luggage.

The drugs seized weigh 1.5 kg and has a market value of close to Rs. 30 million, according to the officials.

The suspect is a 43-year-old businessman residing in the Grandpass area.

The Sri Lanka Customs Narcotics Division is conducting further investigations into the arrest. The suspect and the seized narcotics will be handed over to the Narcotics Bureau of the Sri Lanka Police for further investigations.
