Aug 26, Colombo: Minister of Health Dr. Keheliya Rambukwella says that all citizens over the age of 18 will be fully vaccinated before the end of November.
It is planned to complete the vaccination of all citizens over 30 years of age by mid-September, the Minister said.
Rambukwella made this statement when he met the Cuban Ambassador to Sri Lanka Andres Garrido this morning (26).
The meeting took place at the office of the Minister of Health and the Ambassador congratulated the new Minister of Health.
The Minister of Health told the Cuban Ambassador that attention will be paid for a third vaccine dose after fully vaccinating all citizens.
The Minister also requested the Ambassador to provide an opportunity for an exchange program to share the experience, knowledge and technology of the world-class Cuban health service in Sri Lanka.
Speaking at the event, Cuban Ambassador Garrido said his country hopes to have all citizens vaccinated by the end of this year.
The ambassador said that 100% of the vaccines used in the country are Cuban-made vaccines and that they hope to extend the vaccine to other countries in the future with the approval of the World Health Organization.
The Ambassador also pointed out that medical equipment and health services provide a high exchange rate among the country’s foreign exchange.
Meanwhile, the Minister and the Ambassador agreed that vaccination alone could not prevent the global catastrophe and that it was essential to adhere to proper health guidelines.
