* 493 arrested for violating quarantine rules

May 20, Colombo: Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that 493 persons have been arrested during operations carried out island wide in the past 24 hours for violating the quarantine rules.

They were arrested for failing to maintain social distance and not wearing the face mask properly, DIG Ajith Rohana said.

Since October 30, the police have made 10,906 arrests with regard to quarantine law violations.

The Police say they will be conducting operations today also to look for people who do not wear face masks properly and do not maintain social distance.
