* Sri Lanka reports five COVID-19 deaths Thursday, toll rises to 489

Mar 04, Colombo: Sri Lanka confirmed five deaths on Thursday due to COVID -19 raising the death toll from the viral disease to 489, according to health authorities.

The Director General of Health Services confirmed the following deaths caused by COVID -19 virus infection and accordingly the total number of deaths due to COVID -19 infection in Sri Lanka is 489 by now.

01. The deceased is an 87 year old female resident from Ussapitiya. She was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus and transferred from Mawanella Hospital to General Hospital Kandy where she died on February 22. The Cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia, and blood poisoning.

02. The deceased is a 78 year old female resident from Giriulla. She was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo and transferred to Kotelawala Defense University Hospital where she died on March 04. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and multi-organ failure.

03. The deceased is a 72 year old male resident form Kollonnawa. He has died on March 02 while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo transferred. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and acute kidney damage.

04. The deceased is a 62 year old female resident from Mattakkuliya. She was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus while receiving treatment at National Hospital in Colombo and transferred to Base Hospital Homagama where she died on March 01. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid infection and respiratory failure.

05. The deceased is a 70 year old female resident from Giriulla. She was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus while receiving treatment at Maharagama Apeksha Hospital and transferred to Base Hospital Mulleriyawa where she died on March 03. The cause of death is mentioned as shock due to blood poisoning, Covid pneumonia and cancer.
