* President agrees to give priority to tourism industry and factory workers in COVID vaccination - Tourism Minister

Mar 03, Colombo: Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga says that President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has agreed to give priority to vaccinate those engaged in the tourism industry and factory workers from the next batch of the vaccine to be brought to the island.

Accordingly, the Minister is confident that they will be able to complete the vaccination of those groups by the end of this month.

The Minister also stated that the lists of nearly 20,000 hotel employees, tour guides and drivers registered with the Tourism Development Authority have been submitted to the health sector.

The Minister stated this at a special discussion held at the Ministry of Tourism to discuss the progress of the program to attract tourists to the country.
