June 25, Colombo: Travel restrictions imposed island wide were removed at 4.00 am today (25), the National Operations Center for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) announced.
Although the island wide travel restrictions have been relaxed, the provincial travel restrictions will continue to be in effect until July 05, said Dr. Asela Gunawardena, Director General of Health Services.
Travel restrictions have been in place islandwide for nearly a month to control the spread of Covid-19 and were lifted at 4.00 am on the 21st.
Despite the removal of the travel restrictions, special travel restrictions have been imposed in the Western Province, said the Director General of Health Services, Dr. Asela Gunawardena.
Meanwhile, police have arrested 743 people for violating quarantine rules in the last 24 hours.
Police Media Spokesman, Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said that although the travel restrictions were lifted from 4 am today, the public should abide by the health guidelines.
