* Police arrest 1,027 for violating health guidelines

June 12, Colombo: Sri Lanka Police have arrested 1,027 people for violating health guidelines in the last 24 hours ending at 6 am Saturday, Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.

A total of 30,042 people have been arrested in this connection since October 30 last year.

Seven persons have been arrested for violating quarantine rules during a drone operation in the Sinhapura area in Thalangama yesterday.

Meanwhile, 3,153 persons and 1,024 vehicles were inspected at roadblocks set up at 14 entry and exit points in the Western Province.

The island-wide travel restrictions will be in effect until 4.00 am on June 21st. Search operations are being carried out in several areas today as well.
