* Umariya arrested for causing an accident

July 31, Colombo: Popular singer Umaria Sinhawansa has been arrested by the Welikada Police following a vehicle accident at Rajagiriya today, Police spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said.

The accident occurred when a car driven by Umaria Sinhawansa collided with a three-wheeler near the Rajagiriya flyover around 5:30 this evening (31).

The three-wheeler driver was injured in the incident and was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital, the police spokesman said.

Hospital sources said that his condition was serious.

Accordingly, Umariya Sinhawansa was arrested by the police in connection with the accident and she is due to be produced before court tomorrow.

Welikada Police are conducting investigations into the incident.
