* Government has spent over Rs. 15 billion to purchase Covid-19 vaccines

July 26, Colombo: The Government of Sri Lanka has so far spent around Rs. 15.46 billion to purchase Covid-19 vaccines, Prof. Channa Jayasumana, State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals said.

The government has so far purchased 8,795,830 doses of Covid-19 vaccines. In addition, 3,364,100 doses of vaccines have been donated to Sri Lanka.

Accordingly, the total number of vaccine doses received by the country so far is 12,159,930.

Sri Lanka has so far received 9.1 million doses of China-made Sinopharm vaccine, 1.5 million doses of Moderna vaccine, 1,264,000 doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, 180,000 doses of Russia-made Sputnik V vaccine and 115,830 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, according to the State Minister, Prof. Channa Jayasumana.
