July 25, Colombo: The Deputy Director-General of Health Services, Dr. Hemantha Herath has said that 1.45 million doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine are expected to be received in Sri Lanka on July 26.
According to health authorities 539,357 persons vaccinated with AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine as first dose are expecting to receive the second dose of AstraZeneca and the majority of them are residents of the Colombo District.
Earlier this month the Embassy of Japan said the Government of Japan on a request made by Sri Lanka will provide approximately 1.45 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured in Japan to Sri Lanka through the COVAX Facility.
Meanwhile, the Chinese Embassy said 1.6 million doses Sinopharm vaccine donated by China are scheduled to arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport on Tuesday, 27 July morning via 2 chartered flights of SriLankan Airlines.
Meanwhile, patients infected with the Delta variant of the COVID-19 coronavirus have been found in 14 more districts and a total of 61 people in the country have now been infected with the more virulent variant.
