* Coronavirus update: 1,737 new COVID-19 cases identified Saturday, total rises to 294,850

July 24, Colombo: According to Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, 1,737 new COVID-19 cases were reported so far on Saturday.

Among the cases confirmed today, 1,707 are from the New Year cluster and 30 are foreign arrivals currently in quarantine.

According to the Epidemiology Unit report at 8:30 pm Saturday, a total of 294,850 COVID-19 cases have been reported and 24,183 infected patients are being treated at hospitals, while 266,665 patients have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

Sri Lanka reported 52 deaths Saturday raising the total to 4,054.

According to the Epidemiology Unit report, so far total of 6,693,072 people have received a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 1,746,397 have received the second dose.
