July 19, Colombo: The post-mortem report of the 16-year-old girl who died of burn injuries while working as a servant in the house of parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen is due to be submitted to court today.

Police Media Spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana stated that according to the report, the girl has been sexually abused for some time and that there were signs of chronic vaginal penetration.

J. Ishalini, a 16-year-old girl, was hospitalized with burn injuries on July 3 while working as a housemaid at the former minister’s residence in Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo. She died on the 15th while receiving treatment at the Intensive care unit of the Colombo National Hospital.

The victim J.Ishalini was a resident of Diyagama West in Agarapathana and has been brought by a broker to the Bathiudeen residence in October 2020, when she was 15 years old.

The Borella Police have recorded statements yesterday from the mother and father of Rishad Bathiudeen's wife regarding the death of the girl.

MP Bathiudeen, who was arrested in April 2021 over alleged connections to the 2019 Easter Sunday suicide bomb attacks, is currently being detained by the Criminal Investigations Department.

The broker who had brought the girl from Diyagama to MP Bathiudeen’s house for employment has been summoned before the Borella Police to record a statement today.
