July 15, Colombo: A 16-year-old girl who was working as a domestic helper at the house of MP Rishad Bathiudeen has died at the Colombo National Hospital today, 12 days after hospitalized with burn injuries.
The Borella Police informed the Colombo Additional Magistrate Mrs. Rajindra Jayasuriya today (15) that the minor girl who was hospitalized with severe burns while working as a servant in the house of former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen had died this morning (15).
Ishalini Jude Kumar, a 16-year-old girl from Dayagama West, Division 3, died 12 days after she was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital on the 3rd July with severe burn injuries.
Accordingly, the Magistrate visited the Colombo National Hospital today (15) to observe the deceased girl who was receiving treatment in Ward 73, Intensive Care Unit 2 of the hospital.
Later, the Magistrate visited the house of MP Rishad Bathiudeen at 410/16, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 07 and conducted an on-site inspection.
The Borella Police requested the court to conduct a post mortem on the girl’s death. The Magistrate ordered the Judicial Medical Officer to conduct a post mortem and submit a report to the court.
