July 06, Colombo: The Director General of Health Services has stated that public protests and rallies should not be held until further notice as there is a risk of the COVID-19 spreading due to such activities where masses will gather.
The Director General of Health Services has informed the Inspector General of Police in a letter, the Police Headquarters said in a statement.
"There is a high risk of contracting Covid by engaging in public gatherings, activities such as protests. Therefore, such public rallies and agitations where the masses gather in large numbers should not be held until further notice.”
The Sri Lanka Police will act in accordance with the above quarantine orders, the statement said.
