Jan 23, Colombo: Direct importers and manufacturers have agreed to maintain a fixed price for essential goods with effect from February, the Ministry of Trade said in a media release.

A meeting with local manufacturers and direct importers was held at the Ministry of Trade yesterday (22) under the patronage of the Minister of Trade, Dr. Bandula Gunawardena.

At the meeting, the Minister explained how plans have been made to procure goods from specific vendors using a specific system for CWE and Co-operative outlets instead of the process carried out individually by each institution.
