However, no change has been made to the party leadership and former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will continue to lead the party.

All nominations submitted by party leader and former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe for party posts for the year 2021 have been approved by the Working Committee.

The Working Committee commended Ravi Karunanayake's service to the party as the Deputy Leader at a time when the party was in a difficult situation.

Arjuna Ranatunga has also been nominated for a post in the party and he had informed the party leader Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe before the Working Committee meeting that he would inform later whether he would accept it or not.

Navin Dissanayake was also not present at the meeting. It was decided to inquire whether Navin Dissanayake would accept the post of National Organizer of the UNP.

It was also decided at this Working Committee to fill the vacant post of UNP National List Member of Parliament later.
