Jan 12, Colombo: Sri Lanka confirmed four more deaths on Tuesday due to COVID -19 raising the death toll from the viral disease to 244, according to health authorities.
The Director General of Health Services confirmed following four deaths caused by COVID -19 virus infection and accordingly the total number of deaths due to COVID -19 infection in Sri Lanka is 244 by now.
01. The deceased is an 82 year old female from Colombo-13 area. After being diagnosed with Covid infection at the Colombo National Hospital, she was transferred to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases where he died on January 10. The cause of death was Covid pneumonia, blood poisoning and multi-organ failure.
02. The deceased is a 47 year old male from Hanwella area. While receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital, he was transferred to the Homagama Base Hospital where he died on January 12. The leading cause of death was Covid pneumonia and exacerbated diabetic condition.
03. The deceased is an 84 year old female from Matale area. After being diagnosed with Covid infection at the Matale District Hospital, she was transferred to the Theldeniya Base Hospital where she died on January 12. The cause of death was disruption of blood supply to heart due to Covid infection.
04. The deceased is a 65 year old male from Wellampitiya area. After being diagnosed with Covid infection at the Colombo National Hospital, he was transferred to the Mulleriyawa Base Hospital where he died on January 12. The leading cause of death was stroke and Covid pneumonia.
