Jan 11, Colombo: Sri Lanka confirmed eight more deaths on Monday due to COVID -19 raising the death toll from the viral disease to 240, according to health authorities.
The Director General of Health Services confirmed following eight deaths caused by COVID -19 virus infection and accordingly the total number of deaths due to COVID -19 infection in Sri Lanka is 240 by now.
01. The deceased is a 52 year old male inmate of the Welikada Prison. He has died upon admission to the Welikada Prison Hospital on January 06, 2021. The leading cause of death was Covid pneumonia.
02. The deceased is a 61 year old male from Rajagiriya area. He has died upon admission to a private hospital in Colombo on January 07, 2021. The leading cause of death was Covid pneumonia and exacerbated diabetic condition.
03. The deceased is a 45 year old male from Mattakkuliya area. He has died on January 08, 2021 at the Colombo National Hospital. The cause of death was Covid pneumonia.
04. The deceased is a 36 year old female from Colombo-12 area. She has died upon admission to the Colombo National Hospital on January 08, 2021. The leading cause of death was Covid pneumonia and epilepsy.
05. The deceased is a 51 year old male from Colombo-14 area. After being diagnosed with Covid infection at the Colombo National Hospital, he was transferred to the Homagama Base Hospital where he died on January 10. The cause of death was Covid pneumonia.
06. The deceased is a 70 year old female from Bandaragama area. After being diagnosed with Covid infection at the Kalutara General Hospital, she was transferred to the Homagama Base Hospital where he died on January 10. The cause of death was Covid pneumonia and acute kidney disease.
07. The deceased is a 67 year old male from Kalutara South area. After being diagnosed with Covid infection at the Kalutara General Hospital, he was transferred to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases where he died on January 10. The cause of death was Covid pneumonia and blood poisoning.
08. The deceased is a 57 year old male from Kattankudy area. After being diagnosed with Covid infection at the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital, he was transferred to the Welikanda Base Hospital where he died on January 11. The cause of death was Covid pneumonia and blood poisoning.
