* Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara also contracts COVID-19

Jan 11, Colombo: Minister of Water Supply and Drainage Vasudeva Nanayakkara has also been infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus, according to Parliament Communications Department.

The Minister was found to be positive for the virus after PCR tests were done on several parliamentarians following the disclosure that MP Rauf Hakeem was tested positive for COVID-19.

The Speaker's Office said that Minister Nanayakkara was among the 15 or so parliamentarians who were in close contact with MP Rauf Hakeem during the parliamentary session on the 5th.

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya parliamentarian Gayantha Karunatilaka, who was identified as a close contact of MP Rauf Hakeem when he came to Parliament on the 5th, has not tested positive for the virus.

MP Gayantha Karunatilaka has decided to voluntarily subject himself and his family for PCR testing and according to the results none of them had contracted Covid-19, said Serjeant-at-Arms of Parliament Narendra Fernando.
