Jan 09, Colombo: According to Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, 535 new COVID-19 cases were reported so far on Saturday.

Among the positive cases identified Saturday, 517 are associates of the Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster and 18 are from the prison cluster.

According to the Epidemiology Unit report at 10 pm Saturday, a total of 47,840 COVID-19 cases have been reported and 6,773 infected patients are being treated at hospitals. Another 723 individuals are currently under investigations in hospitals.

Sri Lanka reported 229 deaths and 40.838 patients have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

A total of 1,360,401 PCR tests have been conducted to detect COVID-19 infected persons from February 18 to January 08, according to the Health Promotion Bureau.
