Feb 26, Colombo: Sri Lanka confirmed five deaths on Friday due to COVID -19 raising the death toll from the viral disease to 464, according to health authorities.
The Director General of Health Services confirmed the following deaths caused by COVID -19 virus infection and accordingly the total number of deaths due to COVID -19 infection in Sri Lanka is 464 by now.
01. The deceased is a 69 year old male from Navadagala. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid-19 virus and transferred from Karapitiya Teaching Hospital to Homagama Base Hospital where he died on February 25. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia, acute kidney disease and high blood pressure.
02. The deceased is a 72 year old female from Narahenpita. She was diagnosed as infected with Covid-19 virus and transferred from General Hospital Colombo to Homagama Base Hospital where he died on February 26. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid infection and blood poisoning.
03. The deceased is a 70 year old male from Kandy. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid-19 virus and transferred from Kandy General Hospital to Theldeniya Base Hospital where he died on February 25. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and kidney failure.
04. The deceased is a 71 year old male from Colombo-09. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid-19 virus and transferred from Colombo National Hospital to National institute of Infectious Diseases where he died on February 26. The cause of death is mentioned as shock due to blood poisoning Covid pneumonia, diabetes and high blood pressure.
05. The deceased is a 71 year old male from Veyangoda. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid-19 virus and transferred from Maharagama Apeksha Hospital to National institute of Infectious Diseases where he died on February 25. The cause of death is mentioned as shock due to blood poisoning Covid pneumonia and cancer.
