Feb 26, Colombo: The Prisons Department has taken steps to keep parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake, who was convicted of contempt of court and given a four-year prison sentence, in a single cell at the Angunakolapelessa Prison.
Accordingly, a statement was recorded from him and he was transferred to a single cell in the 'Y' section of the prison and his security was also closely monitored.
Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa recently stated in parliament that there was a threat to MP Ramanayake's security as he was kept among the other convicts who are mostly drug dealers and underworld leaders.
