* High Court orders ‘Wele Suda’ to be produced before court on June 17

Feb 22, Colombo: The Colombo High Court today ordered the prison officials to produce Gampola Vidanalage Samantha Kumara alias ‘Wele Suda’ before the court on June 17.

Colombo High Court Judge Aditya Patabendige issued the order when a case filed against Wele Suda, his wife and a cousin alleging that they had acquired assets worth nearly Rs. 170 million earned from the heroin trade, was taken up before the court today.

After considering the submissions made by the lawyers of both the parties when the case was taken up, the High Court Judge Aditya Patabendige decided to hold the hearing of the case on June 17.

Wele Suda has been convicted of drug trafficking and is currently on death row.
