Feb 21, Colombo: The Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry says that 338,769 people have been vaccinated up to today under the COVID-19 immunization program.
The vaccination program commenced on January 29th continued for the 24th day today and nearly 36,000 people have received the vaccine today.
The Covid-19 vaccine is currently being administered in the Panadura Medical Officer of Health Division targeting high risk areas in the division. People in the Panadura-Hirana West Grama Niladhari Division have been vaccinated for 4 days and 835 people have been vaccinated.
Vaccinations are being carried out at 5 locations in the Gampaha District centering Gampaha-Medagama, Bulugahagoda, Parakandeniya North, Weliweriya North and Imbulgoda Grama Niladhari Divisions. Under the first phase, about 60,000 people will be vaccinated in high risk areas.
Meanwhile, the Media Center for National Development said with the proposed goal of the Government of Sri Lanka to vaccinate all citizens of Sri Lanka, it is important that people become fully aware of the nature of the vaccine and educate those around them to ensure the protection of the community and the country.
